Game patches and websites: separate downloads from gameplay

Evaluate SCDN for HTTP distribution and design TCP/UDP gameplay protection separately.

One game exposes several kinds of traffic

A game includes a website, announcements, launcher updates, account APIs and live sessions. Website onboarding does not automatically protect all TCP/UDP ports. Inventory protocols and addresses before choosing delivery and mitigation paths.

Give patches explicit versions

Use versioned patch URLs and integrity information instead of repeatedly replacing one large file. Confirm file-size, bandwidth and workload limits. Dynamic Security Acceleration should not be treated as unlimited bulk-download capacity.

Test download recovery

HTTP range requests support partial transfers, but the launcher, edge and origin must handle them consistently. Test interrupted downloads, upgrades and integrity checks so mixed cached versions cannot produce a corrupted patch.

Validate delivery and gameplay separately

Measure completion and origin traffic for downloads, and connections, heartbeats and reconnects for gameplay. If patches download but players cannot join, inspect authentication and game entry points rather than assuming a CDN failure.
