Software distribution: checking version consistency after SCDN onboarding

Use immutable names, integrity checks and range-request tests to avoid broken releases.

Speed is only one requirement

Installers and updates must be complete and version-correct. Bind release manifests to immutable files, verify uploaded assets, then update client references so users do not receive incomplete releases.

Do not rely on immediate replacement of one URL

Caches may retain older copies. Versioned or content-addressed URLs make releases and rollback easier to manage. Decide how long to retain older assets from client update behavior and storage costs.

Test large-file edge cases

Test ranges, resume behavior, interruptions, error responses and content lengths. For authenticated downloads, verify permission changes separately; cacheability does not grant access to expired accounts.

Match resources to the distribution workload

Confirm download suitability and peak bandwidth, including cold-cache origin demand. Plan large-file delivery separately from dynamic APIs where needed, with explicit rollback references.
