Use global trends as context, then plan capacity around your own regions, protocols and origins.

What annual data is useful for
Cloudflare released its Internet review on December 9, 2024, covering traffic, connectivity, protocol adoption and security. Check its observation window and sample before applying its trends to an individual website.
Start with visitor regions
Compare real request volume, errors and time to first byte by region. If one access network slows down, more origin CPU may not help. A simultaneous slowdown everywhere warrants application, database and origin-capacity checks.
Test protocol changes with compatibility in mind
Evaluate HTTP/3 and IPv6 against plan support and visitor networks. Client negotiation, fallback and the origin protocol are separate concerns. Test sign-in, uploads, downloads and API calls rather than judging only the homepage.
Build a site-specific baseline
Keep a consistent monthly record of peak legitimate bandwidth, origin requests, regional success rates and resource costs. Compare these after adopting SCDN to distinguish cache or routing benefits from changes in the business itself.
